New South Veterinary Centre opened with a simple mission: to provide the Johannesburg South community with reliable, professional veterinary care exactly when it’s needed most.
While other practices offer “emergency on-call” services, we made a different choice. We built a fully staffed, 24-hour hospital because we believe your pet’s emergency can’t wait for convenience.
Our Team
Veterinary Care:
- Two permanent veterinarians
- Three experienced locum veterinarians
- Rotating shifts ensure a qualified vet is almost always on duty
Nursing and Support:
- Two permanent qualified veterinary nurses (Diploma in Veterinary Nursing)
- One locum nurse
- Six dedicated kennel orderlies
- Five receptionists and a practice manager
Our Approach
We don’t make promises we can’t keep. When we say we’re open 24 hours, we mean a veterinarian is here, not just someone who can call one. When we say we have full laboratory facilities, we mean results in minutes, not days.
Community Commitment
Stray Animal Assistance:
- Microchip scanning and owner contact attempts
- Temporary housing until owners can collect their pets
- Partnership with Animal Anti Cruelty League for unclaimed animals
Referral Relationships: We work closely with local veterinary practices and specialists, focusing on emergency stabilisation and referring patients back to their regular vets for ongoing care, or to specialists when advanced treatment is needed.
Our Philosophy: Your pet isn’t just another appointment—they’re a family member who deserves the same level of care and attention you’d want for yourself. That’s why we’ve structured our practice around being genuinely available when you need us, not just when it’s convenient for us.
